OOOOh my barrel and stock arrived today! Just a bit excited today as this project now looks like it will happen. Many thanks to Mr B.Habermehl for expertly shortning a 31" Jaeger barrel by 3", recrowning and rebreaching it. Also installing the front and rear sights for me. I can't thank Mr Habermehl enough for all his help and advice in seeing this project come to light. Also Fred Miller, thank you for picking out a beautiful piece of walnut and doing the carving.

Hey, Swamp Rat, Wouldn't a 31" barrel fit in Rhode Island?  I just had to say it.

Absolutely! but having to hunt from a wheelchair or my modifyed ATV, I found my 1792 contract rifle with a 42" barrel one major headache this past season. I probably would have found anything with a 32" barrel just fine but I wanted it totally fitted to me and my way of hunting. Length/weight really mean alot and this right now is just perfect for me. I can see the muzzle, making loading much easier to do. :redthumb:

You, sir, are awesome. Being a physical therapist by trade I've had the pleasure of working with several people who didn't let their alternative mobility slow their hunting or other outdoor activities down a bit. My hat's off to you. Jim

That wood is too purrrrttty to cut on!!! It would be nice to be able to go to any hardware and get an emergency ramrod.

PS...There are some "modified" hunting vehicles in the county where I hunt......they add a spotlight and a tarp to cover up the contents in the bed of the truck!!! :haha:
