Well got together with a buddy who has a metal lathe and together we turned my blank into a musket and pistol blank. This is my first attempt at doing this.

At this point hope to make a miquette pistol and a petronel out of these (both 16th century). Many thanks for Tinker2 for helping me along on this project and pushing me outside my "comfort zone" :)

Oh here is the one I am thinking of modeling- a late 16th century petronel (thanks to Dave Person)

I'm building this for fun mostly- and for the fact I've been involved in a renactment group known as the SCA which covers up to 1600. They are really not a firearms group but building one I can use for arts/sciences competition.

Other than that I'm an avid hunter who is intrigued to hunt with 16th century firearms. I own dozens of outfits, armor, and swords from the period (well all reproductions that I made or others made for me), why not a firearm?

For the pistol I don't have an exact model but since SCA ends at 1600 trying to keep it period to that. We have written documentation that they had miquelet pistols in the late 1500's but I've not found any surviving examples, so I am trying to look at other pistols of the period.

Finally here is a side profile of the barrels.
