Putting kibler smr together, tang is a little proud not a great amount but it's there, was wondering if this is normal or if I need to do a better job? Wish I had a camera but I don't nor do I have a smart phone, So unable to show, I have looked at many photos and see that some are and others are flush. Any ideas are welcome. Thank you

Where at along the tang?
Right at the breech you need to be all the way down
Into the wrist the tang and wrist should be even
If your wrist is the profile you want you can file the tang till you get the profile you want. But you might need to bend and fit as needed to keep your tang near its original thickness

On the three I have assembled the tang was too tight in the inlet for my comfort. I scraped the sides of the wood a little to let the tang go in and out of the wood with less nail biting. I use sharpie marker to determine where to scrape because it will tell you where the fit is too tight and not misled you in to removing too much wood.

It could be that the tang is not completely bottomed out in the inlet. The inletting on them is near perfect. I'd wager the inlet depth is correct. IF you file the metal, it will sink below flush when you install the screws. Check the depth with your digital calipers and compare to the thang thickness. OR, apply regular inletting black on the bottom of the tang and see if it is touching bottom.

Did the sides of the tang have draft? This facilitates an easier and nicer fit. I don't file the tang down until the trigger plate is in and the tang bolt is used.
