I'm curious is anyone is punching their own cards with a "store bought" punch (that was not intended as a shotgun punch). I'd like a 12, 13 and 24 gauge punch but I can't decide what fraction of an inch or millimeter diameter to get. My 12-gauge is exactly .730 (but I don't know the equivalent fraction of inch, the 13-gauge is 18.3 (so I guess I need an 18mm) and the 24-gauges both measure .575. Maybe something like a Harbor Freight punch kit? I see punches with just single and double digit #'s, like 8,9,10,11, 12... Not sure what to get.

I think that if you multiply the decimal by the denominator that you want to use that your result will be the numerator.
0.730 x 8= 5.84 so 5.84/8 is the fraction or 0.730" x 32 = 23.36 which I would round to 23/32"
"13-gauge is 18.3" ?
0.585" x 64 = 37.44 or ~ 37/64" or ~19/32" or about 9/16'

I think your 13ga might be about 45.44/64 or ~11/16
eta- I think cards are a bit oversize aren't they? You may want to round up a bit, Idk

I would just buy a set and surely one or more will be the right size.
Even though I avoid buying Chinese stuff at every opportunity, I made an exception and one of their punch sets. One of them was the right size for my immediate needs, and I have since found a use for a couple of the others.

I believe Dixie Gun Works has a selection of quality arched punches that are identified by gauge.
