Yes, a very interesting book. I picked up a paperback reprint a number of years ago. It's on one of the book shelves here - somewhere. But also note: it was published in 1851, as I recall. It was published as a guide for travelers heading out West in the various wagon trains crossing the Great Plains and going on to Oregon (or Kalifornia).
So you need to keep that time period in mind when looking at specific pieces of equipment/clothing/gear. A lot of it will not fit into earlier time periods. So check carefully, and do your research before using some of the info in the book. A lot is not appropriate for the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade of the 1830's or earlier.
Just my humble opinion, and best used in conjunction with your own research.

P.S. It's a great book for general camping/packing/gear, just as the early 1900's ones by Nesmuck and Kephart are. Just be careful about using some of the specific items in earlier time periods.
