Hello I just wanted to say this is a really great forum with lots of info and this is my first post. My dad has an old percussion rifle that was left to him by a friend several years ago and I wanted to see if anyone could give me some info on it. The rifle is appoximately .36 to .37 caliber as the bore mics around .365 the best I can tell. The lock is marked with R. S. East and Pitt. Co. VA. I believe that Pitt. Co refers to Pittslyvania County Va. which is now Danville. Only markings I could find on the barrel were NIB stamped on top of the barrel. The half stock has seen better days but still has the original brass hardware. The rifle is also completely browned with double set triggers and fixed sights. The rifle is still very shootable though which is the best part, about 6 years ago my dad my dad removed a turkey from its head with it. If anyone has any info on this type of rifle I would appreciate it. I will try to get some pictures of it next time I am home.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

Seeing pictures of your dads rifle will be very interesting and will give us a better chance to make some guesses about it.
