As far as I know, their commission is 30% if they sell an item for you.
They were inclined to buy it, I believe. I should probably just pay the yearly fee on this forum and list it, or put it on GB. I would rather sell it for less than premium and get it to someone who really appreciates it than get 50 percent of value. I am pretty sure it was unissued/unfired before I got it. It is nicer than any I have seen for sale in the last two years, and I have maybe 50 rounds through it.

Yep.

Most pieces sell quickly on this forum.

I've sold a few guns through Track. You send them the gun and what you want for it, they list it and put their 30% commission on top. I've not had any trouble with them saying my ask was too high although I suppose they could and also if it sits too long they will contact to recommend a price reduction.

My first preference is here. I'd rather save the buyer the cost of the commission and tax (the hobby is expensive enough) but I've gotten the same money I advertised here when I've sold them through Track. They have a different customer base and some people like to buy from a dealer rather than risk buying from a private seller. I suppose it depends on the gun and the price point. Lower cost guns sell here pretty quickly and reasonably.

Track likes to sell guns -they're easy to describe and photograph and have a good profit for them. I tried but they had little interest in accoutrements and (after sitting my box in a corner for a couple months) returned the accessories.

This one is an excellent rifle. I imagine it is worth around $1500-$2000. I just became a supporting member, and might list it in the next day or two.

A detail I missed...after they get the item and your asking price, they will give you some options:
List it and they cut a check when it sells.
An immediate cash offer...will be somewhat less but they pay immediately regardless of when it sells.
A store credit offer. Like the immediate payment but will be a little more than the cash payment. If you need a lot of stuff and want the funds quick ..

I wonder how much less they offer. Perhaps 30% is their margin. It doesn't hurt to list here first and move on if it does not sell. I just bought a .50 CVA from a member on here yesterday, but would really like a Buffalo Hunter as well. I have a bunch of .58 stuff, and really like the caliber.

Yes. I inquired about selling my 1861 Wm. Muir contract rifle to them. They said they were interested, but wanted me to ship it to them, and they would inspect and give me "their best cash offer".

Nope, if you send it to them you're handing over the bargaining leverage, why not advertise it here on this forum ?

30% commission !! Thats extortionate.

I checked my records and their commission is actually 35%. It probably seems high, but most retail margin is around 30-40% and ToTW is just doing what any business does. Most of us count on Track and other retailers to have what we need, and it's a niche market, so a healthy margin keeps them in business.

The buyer pays the commission, it does not come out of the seller's funds. It's best for the community if a gun sells here between people. However, if you list a gun for a fair price and it doesn't sell. Then after some time send it to a dealer and they sell it for you and you get what you asked, does it matter to you (as the seller) how much profit the dealer made?

Hi all,

I have purchased items from TOTW, but have never sold anything to them. Does anyone have experience with selling a muzzleloader to them?
I sold and bought quite a few guns from them. What you think it is worth and what they think it will sell for don’t usually match up. If you think it’s $2000 and they think it will sell for $1500, they’ll offer you $1200. Don’t even think you know more about selling guns than they do. Over the years they have been fair to me.

They have to make a profit on the firearm. That's what keeps the "doors open".
Yes. 30% is standard minimum at a restaurant. Bottled water is several 100%. Real estate brokers make 2-6% gross, not net, but on much larger price tags. I am super pro business, especially folks who support our hobbies. They could make more elsewhere, and we would have to scrounge our own parts.

I agree. That has been my experience exactly. I sold several through them back when their commission wasn’t so high, but getting them to accept my best price was always a problem. MF is much better
