Rädschloss (Wheellock) eye candy!

Beautiful gun, but I got a German-born woman in the house and we got nothing to do today but argue: Is it Rädschloss oder Radschloss (mit nicht umlaut)?

Herr Raby, My German is limited and I am still learning. The plural form of a word in German will use an umlaut to show that it is plural, usually adding an -er to the end. "Wheels" in German is "Räder". However, in my haste I pluralized (<- is that an English word?) "Wheel". The second part of the word is the plural part so "Schloss" becomes "Schlösser".
Wheellocks should be Radschlösser.
I had to ask my German wife... German wife's are always correct...

It is rare to Not have sights in this time period, other than some pistols.

TobJohn: You are correct....In all the European museums I visited years ago...rarely do I recall ever seeing a 16th/17th Century wheelock long gun without sights. Perhaps a rare one with larger bell shaped muzzle. I have seen pistols without sights; however most pistols also are sighted.
