Each rifle is different. I have never had a problem with a conical coming off the powder. My own TC Hawken 50 caliber requires a very hard wack with the hand on the short starter to get it started. So I call it loading hard, but they stay on top of the powder and shoot great (Hornady great plains 385 gr bullets). For me the felt wad over powder does help a lot.

I'd have to agree with Billnpatti and Brown Bear. I cast (pure lead) and shoot 250 gr., .50 REAL bullets through a 1:70 twist GM barrel. Mostly to increase the weight of the projectile. And since the aspect ratio is close to 1:1 to a PRB, the REAL bullet shoots better than "Minute of Deer", and certainly Elk, out to 100 yds or so.I do use lubed (with Balistol)over powder felt wads, 100 gr 2F, Black, in my "Home built" Tennessee long rifle, rock lock. The bullet drives well, with a good push to engrave the driving band, and all barrels being equal (which they're not), I haven't experienced any bullet movement until the "Big Light" goes off. I've only got the one mould for REALs, so I can't comment on them throwing different diameters from mould to mould.

I have used the REAL as a varmint bullet. I carried them out hunting and never had one come off the powder. Mine measures .517 top band. I used BPCR lube on them. I don't use them any more. I shoot the 460 gr Paper Patched bullets at everything from rabbits to big game. Ron
