Hi,
I shot my traditions hawken a few weeks ago. I cleaned her up and everything was good. The weird thing is that today I tried to take the ramrod out of the place where you put it under the barrel and it's stuck in there very good.... Any ideas why and how I would get it out?

If the threaded tip is out, screw in the jag and tie a slip knot around the ramrod with some heavy string. The jag should hold it Run the string over something over head, a stud, nail, limb.... Tie it off and pull the rifle straight down.

If you can't put a jag on tie half hitches or simply wrap the string around the rod. Leather straps or leather shoestring will grip better than string if simply wrapping.

Also a pair of pliers can be used to twist the rod and pull.

If it's dry...set out in the sun and try it...

No luck try WD or a little dish soap as a lube.

Two causes....1 humidity stock or rod has swelled
2 rod jammed in during transport...friction fit.
When it is out...sand the rod down some and should not give you anymore trouble.

Traditions and CVA (and other Spanish made) guns have a rod retainer spring held in by the front lock bolt.
If you pulled the lock and those two screws/bolts, you lost the position of that spring and the loose spring may be whats now binding the rod.
Pull the barrel and the lock screws again and check.

What he said....either way disassemble and verify the cause first.

If all else fails, you can buy a pointed tip for a grease gun, pour some lubricant down the barrel, remove nipple and firmly hold the tip of the grease gun into the channel while someone pumps the grease gun. We've removed balls and rods that were stubbornly stuck with good results this way. Then enjoy the clean up.

Should be an easy fix as already posted. Most of those inexpensive rifles have a routed out channel for the ramrod. Take the barrel off and see what is jamming the works. On a pc set up the stock has a hole drilled in it and nothing else but the replica types you mentioned have that flat leaf type spring- it has snagged on the jag. Should take 30 seconds to fix.

Taking the barrel off may be a bit of a problem with the ramrod stuck in the channel. It would depend on how much flex the rod has and if barrel lugs can be lifted out of their positions. also, will the end of the ramrod slide through the rod holders.

This is a case where a pinned RR tip w/ a transverse 1/8 dia drilled hole w/ a rod inserted could twist back and forth and pull the RR out.

Getting the bbl out is a problem if there's a hooked breech unless the RR is sawed through and replaced w/ a new one. The saw cut should be just to the rear of the closest RR pipe to allow a length for grabbing.

Have you tried wrapping the RR tip w/ leather and clamping tightly w/ Visegrips on the solid part of the tip and twisting back and forth?....Fred

It's probably that stupid little ramrod retainer spring that has been mentioned. If it got out of place or is installed upside down it can really hold a ramrod tight, digs in like a wedge instead of sliding.
Take the forward lock bolt out first and see if you can pull the ramrod. Then try the more aggressive things.
Good luck.

Also if you tighten the lock to tight when you put it back together, that can bind it. Try loosening the lock screw first....

According to the "Traditions Hawken Assembly Instructions" the ramrod spring is held in place by the front lockplate washer screw. Read that as the front lock screw. If you remove the screws and lock and look in the cut out section you should be able to remove the spring when the front screw is removed. That should release the ramrod.
