THE original's in the mountain man museum's, have a lot of EM that protrude out past the muzzle. maybe they were INGINORENT?
 
Thanks for all the inputs. I use a brass rod with a jag. I leave it long for easier reloading while hunting. I can find the rod easier while watching where the deer/hog ran off to.
 
I frequently make rod tips from antler, or some other material, because it looks nice and often works better. They won't accept a jag, of course, but it's never been an issue in the hunting bush.
I like the SMOKE RING, at the top of the barrel. did you just shoot it?

doesn't it get scorched when shooting.? or do you remove it when shooting?
