Wanted a better range box that would more fit my needs. I was using an antique sewing box for my range box for a long time. Problem I had using it was it was only 5" width at the bottom and angled out to about 10" width at the top. I had to stack alot of my supplies on top of each other and had no organization. Always having to pull stuff out all over the place to get what I was looking for. I looked on various websites for a new shooting box with compartments so I could organize and go right to what I was looking for without pulling everything out all over the place. Most all of the ones I found were more than I was willing to spend. I decided to go on Ebay and look at their vintage sewing boxes without the slanted sides like my old one had. Came across this one that had a deep compartment and each side opened out to three seperate compartments on each side. Put a bid on it and won the box. I reinforced it and decorated it to my taste. The box was built in the 1950's. I replaced the pull knobs with brass ones and added all the brass accessories on the box. Won the box for $39.99 and put another $20.00 into it. Got the box I wanted, tailored to my needs for around $60.00 in all. Respectfully, cowboys1062.

Good idea. With all that it looks like it can hold, you might need wheels. I think I would look at those collapsible hand trucks Sears sells.

I really like the eagle applied on the side. Where did you find that? I haven't seen anything like it since the Bi-Centennial.

Shooting Box?...I load from my bullet pouch and seem to put all I need for a shooting session, whether at the local range or out on the prairie, in a shoe box. But then, I shoot just one rifle - a late 1700 style Lancaster County flintlock rifle, 54 cal and patched round ball with mutton tallow. I keep my shooting sessions simple in order to enjoy my rifle, which I've shot for the last 35 years. I seldom shoot paper anymore in order to enjoy the experience by seeing something happen on the other end of the ball's trajectory; all while enjoying the experience under God's great blue sky. But then, the Society for lagomorphs (rabbits) has filed several complaints against me for harassing their members...

I use a wimpy tackle box for a range box. It's got everything in it, brushes, lube, patches, bullets, jags, a micrometer, and it's full. I'm not hc/pc.

I usually go to the range with 2 or 3 muzzleloaders at a time. The box is plenty big enough and I definitely don't pack it full. Just the basics with a little of every kind of powder types(3 Flasks) different calibers and patch thickness's.Spare nipples, ramrod accessories, different calibers of balls, depending what Im bringing out to shoot. Targets, staple gun, markers, nipple wrench, nipple pick, patch lube,BP Bore cleaner to swab between shots.rags to wipe down my muzzleloaders. I never use everything but am always prepared if I need something. I am strictly a Range Shooter! Don't hunt anymore due to being disabled. Can only walk short distances at a time and can't carry game out if I was to score a Deer. Grew up in Northwest Wyoming and hunted enough MuleDeer and Elk to last 4 life times. Respectfully, cowboys1062.(P.S. George I just noticed your from Sheridan. Been in your neck of the woods many times. Im from Cody)

Careful what ya put in there. A box that size can easily end up weighing 35-40# (or more)
Yep! I know that one.....
No matter how big a box is you fill it to the brim....
I have 3 boxes, all filled to capacity and very heavy....Plus a half dozen bags and other containers.....
The boxes haven't left the shop in years......They've become "bench queens"

Nice box Cowboy. From one paratrooper to another, I would add your wings to the crossed rifles. Like you, I believe having "emergency tools" available is an asset.

Once when I helped my sister-in-law move she had a huge box, looked like an oven musta came in it originally, packed and ready to go, sitting in the middle of her living room.
She had packed it completely full... of BOOKS!

Now, she's a college educated smart girl with a Masters degree.
I told her I couldn't move the box.
She said "It's just books. I put them in there myself. You should be able to lift them."

:rotf: I think I use to work with your sister-in-law....I told her "can you lift it" to which she relied "no" and I said "then neither can I".... :rotf:

That's a really nice looking box, Cowboys, which I would expect of you.

Where do you keep the sewing kit?

Just noticed you're in Cody. Wife and I loved it there, went for a day, stayed most of a week, and could have stayed a lot longer.

Thanks for the compliment Grumpa, Yes, I am originally from Cody Wyoming. I am now living in east central Illinois, right near the Indiana border.I live in a small farming village called Oakwood. My wife grew up here. It's a nice little town. Very patriotic people here. My kind of people! I do try to go back to Cody as often as I can to see my folks and relatives. I still consider Cody Wyoming my home. Respectfully, cowboys1062. :hatsoff:

Really nice there cowboy! Great idea, I want one too. It sure looks a whole lot better than my new fangled plastic range box, fer sure.
