Range Report - A wonderful Sunday Morning

Early this morning, I met up with a couple of fine gentlemen that met through this forum. We had a relaxing, fun filled morning visiting and pushing some round balls down range and ringing some hanging steel. For those here who don't make the effort to meet up and spend time shooting with other members, you are really missing the comradeship of some fine quality folks. There were some absolutely beautiful arms presented and I had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable mornings that I have experienced in a long time.

Thanks for sharing. Shooting with new and old friends is the best!
Next Sunday we leave for Idaho for the Idaho State Championship and NMLA Territorials, we will be with about thirty of our closest friends. Five days of shooting and telling lies about how good we were once upon a time.

Yeah, Bill, my flintlock just didn't like the cut agate flint that I was trying. I had never tried one of the cut agate flints. I was not impressed with how it worked in my rifle. Neither was my rifle. Once I changed to a knapped flint, I was off and running again.

I'll second what Bill said about our day at the range. :metoo: It was good to meet him and I look forward to many more days of shooting muzzleloading rifles with him.

When any of y'all see a friend on the forum who lives in your area, make an effort to meet them in person and do a bit of shooting with them. You will likely find a great new friend like we did. :thumbsup:

I understand your feelings. I didn't buy the vile thing, it was given to me to try. I tried it and now it is part of the Austin Rifle Club ground because I gave it a good toss after removing it from the cock on my rifle. Hopefully, it will be trampled into the soil and no other poor soul will find it and try using.

Ahhhh, but the satisfaction when it goes kaboom without a hitch and continues to do so without complications. That is a wonderful feeling.

LOL, we gave him some good natured ribbing about it, I think David even offered the loan of a percussion.
After the flint got changed, I did see a lot of white smoke coming from that end of the range. I'll watch the grass around that station, and if any of it starts dying off, we will know for sure that the evil stone is cursed!!!
That is a really nice flinter, well made and and a pleasure to behold.
