Got out to the range today with my 1851 Colt Navy, .36 caliber by Pietta.

Shot nice groups today.

I used 20 grains FFFG Goex, Ox-Yoke wonder wad and a .376 round ball from Dixie Gun Works.

Here's a shot at one of my targets...

The group is high, were you aiming at the X? I am told the guns were made that way, you were supposed to aim at the belt buckle of the enemy.

Yes, I was aiming at the X. From what I have read, Colt Navies were made to shoot high at 25 yards and on target at 50 yards.

Mine certainly performs that way...

Good target. Was the one over his left shoulder a warning shot ?

Naw! On that shot I was experimenting with a different stance.

Still have not found the right one yet. Can't wait to get out to the range again!!
