Stumbled across an auction for 12 - 100 count bags of .45/.50cal TC unlubed .018" pillow ticking patches at $1.50/bag...squirted a little Hoppe's #9 BP Plus on some and tried them at the range this morning in a .45 Flinter...didn't slide down quite as slick as bore butter patches do but accuracy was fine, kept the bore clean, etc.

Yeah, in particular I like the Hoppe's on these low humidity winter days as it's easy to get the patches a little wetter than they are with NL1000...I did notice the patches showed a little more effects of the fire than patches lubed with NL1000, but no patch failures (50grns Goex 3F)

No patch failures here either. Been shooting 80 & 90 grains FFFG, and 100 grains FFG. I have also been swabbing between shots with a patch with #9 plus, then a dry patch. Makes reloads a snap. When using #9 plus as a patch lubricant, I wonder how long it retains it's value? I have only used it when target shooting, not hunting, where I could have a load in all day.

So far I'm only using Hoppe's at the range in periods of low humidity...otherwise, 99% of all my shooting is done with patched prelubed with NL1000, and 100% of the time when hunting
