Need some idea's!...I'm going to make an underhammer pistol and was thinking about .40 caliber and a 10" X 1 in 22" Rayl barrel. Beings this is my first underhammer pistol and only my second scatch built gun. I thought that I wouldn't spent to much, for this first underhammer project.

Is the Rayl barrel a quality barrel? Is my caliber choice sound OK for this project? Any and all suggestions welcomed and appreciated!

Good choice of barrel and caliber. I would use a 7/8" ATF. Rayl makes real good barrels!

I have an Ed Rayl barrel in .32 on my home made "zip gun" that has thousands of rounds through it, and it is a tack driver. So I would say those barrels are great. Cal. depends on what you plan to use it for. .40 is a good all around caliber. It seems the "hot" cal. now at Friendship is .36. In a 7/8", it would be a little lighter.

So, go for it, see ya, Jim/OH :hatsoff:
