Not sure where this thread really belongs, so here goes.
If you are looking for smokeless powder for your modern firearms, or, real black powder for your muzzleloaders, and are having difficulty finding either, take a look at this!

I was looking for powder for my modern rifle. went to "GUN BROKER", type in "gun powder" in the search, unbelievable prices!! 1-LB $179.00!! Then I just did a search of gun powder and various brands and types showed up. Saw 5LBS. of one powder at over $300! So happy I stocked up in 2016-2020!

I haven’t really had too rough a time finding powder. Sometimes have to settle on Goex rather than Swiss. Haz mat fees suck, so I usually buy as much as I can afford at one time. I haven’t been looking in a few months though. Ive noticed it usually comes in waves. If you stock up while it’s there, you won’t get caught with your pants down.

What I don’t get is that folks will pay those prices. Then the same folks complain about how much they paid. It’s just beyond me I guess.

Now log in and go to completed auctions and do the same search.

Plenty of smokeless powder of all types available, ~30/lb plus shipping and hazmat. At Grafs, thats about $37.

What is the problem, and the same problem lots of us here have, is the primers and percussion cap situation. But even those are becoming more and more available, I've been able to get some of both locally for reasonable prices in the past 2 months. Not "stacked deep" but enough for the next 6 or so range trips.

BP around £65 kg in uk ,

Swiss Bp £76 kg.

Pyrodex & 777 around £50/lb.

Nitro RL powders £55 to £86./ lb

You have to produce your police certificate to buy any of above Then it’s up to £25 delivery if you cannot collect

The EU have banned a number of USA nitro powders , so far still banned in UK to keep EU happy.

It’s a hard life make your own BP fast BP is not as easy as you think though

Suggest put nitro in pan then sprinkle with black powder for ignition try it you might be surprised all good fun

I bought a 5lb tin of “Greenback “ think it’s a Dutch , a shotgun powder , back in 1964. £8 yes £8 a Tin it’s still full shoots like BP Tried it In the flint pan. Wow amazing just needs a bit of Bp sprinkled on it to start ignition

Hello Ewan good day to you from London. Hot here in 3500 miles Calais to Beritz to the med , where are all the gun shops let alone black powder. I cannot now buy Bp or nitro. As the police won’t give me a certificate at 79 let alone a licence to shoot.

Er fast black is difficult to make if you are a novice

The pcp 3000psi BSA Scorpio airguns saved my life. I can go to 70 m. in my garden but I limit squirrels and pigeons to 50 m. I saw a stag in France but not a sign of any hogs , I had my compound bow in the Rapido Motorhome. Disappointing No robbers either I want to take my .36 double to France but still don’t understands this permit to carry for BP guns. Friend forced to sell his fathers house in Normandy Upset as he used a shotgun in the hills around no licence and nobody bothered him

Really want to go to prehistoric Vannes , I can only be away for 10 days as I am on immutherapy for a couple of old 2006 tumours

we went back to France last year my son amazed at the wonderful empty roads and my Motorhome is LH drive. He drove to Arcachon and the massive sand dune he was amazed , Not to mention Forarges castle oh wonderful France !!!!!!

Still not been to La Rochelle our friends favourite place next to Bordeaux

What is the problem, and the same problem lots of us here have, is the primers and percussion cap situation.
The last step in the process for me regarding percussion caps was buying sheet copper off Amazon instead of using aluminum cans. Now I can make caps that look and function just like what came in the tin. A full tin of copper caps costs me less than $4 to make. Some time is involved - but not a lot of money.

Aluminum caps are half that if you don't mind the way they look. Consequently thats what I mostly use. At this point my percussion cap tins are wearing out.

Once I run out of the commercial stuff, it'll be home made from then on. I researched and learned how to make my own in the event we have another plant closure like we had with Goex. Just so happens I have a willow tree in my back yard, so I've got an almost unlimited supply of potential charcoal. The other two ingredients are easy and cheap enough to get. Plus it's fun making smoke with my own powder.
