goofball,
I'm with you...I'm not a rich man by any
streatch and i don't shoot thousands of rounds a year.
I have never even thought about the PPS(price per shot).
I make my own patches, my own lube and look for the best
buys on the rest that i can find. I buy my goex powder
from Graf&Sons at www.grafs.com and in the quanities i
order i am probably paying $13 to $14 a pound.
I don't know what my PPS is but i know one
thing i spent a lot more $$$ bowling than i do on B/P
shooting :results:

Hello Gentlemen,There are indeed many ways one may save money in this hobby.I buy powder in bulk, caps in bulk, pillow ticking at wally world. As an aside I buy an entire bolt of fabric at a time of pillow ticking and white cotton flannel for cleaning.I scrounge pure lead where I may.For my flintlocks I scrounge leather from wornout gloves, purses ect.,I have many different punches to cut felt wads from old hats and fibre cards.I use sweet oil as a lube and clean w/ soap and water.Does this save money,to be sure, but not much I suspect. The truth be told I enjoy the tinkering and if I save some pennies all the better.I watch my pocket book as much as the next fellow so I must agree w/ Apache's point of view. However,I like our friend Pasquenels point of view aswell.Jack

My appologies,Windwalker, sweetoil is none other than the old term for olive oil.It was used quite often in the UK.I am not sure if it was used elsewhere, although I see no reason for it not to have been.Best Regards,Jack.

I agree with Rebel. Lee Bullet molds are a lot less expensive and are more than adequate for my purposes. I never calculated the price per shot from my flinters, but I would have to base it on the price of Goex instead of Pyrodex, though. Real BP is more reliable and consistent in my opinion. If you are sure you ant to use Pyrodex shop around I've seen much better prices than $19.99
