I just took delivery on a new Crockett .32 cal rifle. I had one several years ago that I played the devil of a time cleaning as it would eat the patch and not let go of the ramrod. Super accurate, but I got tired of that quirk and traded it away. I'm hoping everyone is correct and that Traditions has fixed that problem. At any rate, i discovered that the rear sight is mighty fuzzy. I normally shoot a rear peep on my N-SSA muskets and carbines these days. Thought I would try that route with the Crockett. Any suggestions from ya'll here on the forum? Also, does anyone know the rear dovetail size on the Crockett?

A peep actually sounds like a good idea on a Crockett. I owned and hunted with one for years and agree they are exceptionally accurate. I never had a problem with stuck patches in mine and it always chugged along without exception. Burrs on the rifling edges or at the depressed powder chamber can do it.

Shot it on Saturday. No problems with the patches, but the sights are bothersome to me. Got to get a peep of some sort if I'm to do the rifle justice.

For the peep to do the rifle justice it should be tang mounted..

Half way down the barrel not so much.

If it works for you great..but the longer sight radius is a plus.

Do women find you handy???....Make your own... drill and tap the tang and commence firing..

For peep sight making tips pm me.

Ended up putting a Johnson Peep on the Crockett along with a taller front sight. Placed it at the rear of the barrel. Had to drill and tap two mounting holes, but turned out ok.

I had a patch-eating, ramrod sticking Crockett that drove me nuts too, and uncharacteristically it was not very accurate. . . I sold it. . . but the look and feel of that dandy little rifle was excellent.
