Gang, I have a 50 cal Blue Ridge Rifle that dates from the second year that Cabelas was selling them.
I would like to have a .32 or .36 cal switch barrel for it. Ive checked the online resources that the Pedersoli site lists as parts vendors but the barrels are listed as "no longer available". :idunno: Ive also read that when they where available they were a bit over priced. :stir:

What are my options now? Is any small shop picking up on this market opportunity and making replacements?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Any competent gunsmith could rob the hardware from an existing barrel and turn out what you want with a new barrel. Doubt you want to sacrifice the barrel you have, but if you could find a second barrel, especially one with a bum bore and therefore cheap, it could be done.

I put a Green mountain bbl on a Blue Ridge once. Of course I had to inlet for a new breechplug tang and use the same dovetail screw inserts. It definitely was not a drop in that's for sure.

I would suggest having your existing barrel sent off to have it relined to 32 caliber.

I agree. The 50 would be bigger across the flats...not sure how much, but certainly enough that if one tries to get a Pedersoli 32 cal bbl it'll be too small for the existing inlet. I have a 36 and the bbl is just under 13/16 (mine is .805.) The 50 must be at least 7/8 or maybe even up to 1" since I think the .54 is the same bbl.

Your options are basically to go out and buy a gun in the caliber that you want. Then you will have two guns

As far as "a small shop picking up on a market" there is a very small market starting with only you.

Yep the fifty measures .890". Good advice one the new rifle, heading to the CLA show on Friday and may walk out with one to hunt with while i try my hand with a rock lock kit.
The first BLR i ordered came stocked in an amazing piece of figured walnut but someone at the factory had gotten browning solution on the crown and 2" down into barrel, it was very rough and pitted. Needless to say she didnt shoot near as good as she looked. I sent cabelas and the Pedersoli rep in the states at the time some pics asking if i could keep the stock and get a new barrel....no dice. I had the send the whole rifle back for a replacement.
The replacement rifle was plain jane compared to the firtst but it has served me well over the years as my only bp rifle and i have taken a few nice deer with it. If we are allowed to mention conicals hereon i used to buy black belts directly from Harold and it shoots the 405 grainers extremely well. Ive never cared for the way prbs have shot out of the 48 twist but perhaps i have just not tried enough patch thickness and ball size variations.

Flintlock etc has them in stock however, only the 32, 36, and 45 are interchangeable. The 50 caliber barrel is wider acrossed the flats then the 32 or 36. But the barrels are 395.00 and they come with the sights and browned already in either flint or percussion your call. VTI doesn't stock new pedersoli parts anymore and they referred me to flintlock etc a long time back.
