Looking at a minor rebuild job on T/C Hawken. What I am thinking is get the blued T/C Ren. butt plate & trigger guard (suppose to it) but my question is does anyone know of a steel patch box and nose pcs. that I can use to replace the brass on the T/C. My plan is to strip the stock and hand rub and oil finish after darking the stock. Don't care for the reddish stain that T/C uses on their stock.

I've seen an advertisement several times in Muzzleloader Mag I think about a place that makes a replacement set of iron fiurniture specifically for the TC Hawken.

Also, I've refinished several Hawken stocks now and learned the following:
1) Be careful about sanding of stubborn areas of finish as you can change the stock dimensions;
2) I've found a local antique furniture place that has a commercial size, chemical stripping booth and for $20 I get the stock back in a few days stripped to the raw wood like new, smooth as glass;
3) If you use stain, and then Tru-Oil, it comes out so dark you can't see the grain very well...TC's walnut is usually prettier than their automated factory finishes show;
4) Tru-Oil by itself brings out the grain and figure, makes the stocks look far more beautiful than when they leave the factory;

You can strip it yourself with MEK and not raise the grain. I'd never finish a stock without stain.
