Pics of the Early Lancaster rifle I just finished. This is my first real build. I actually bought the stuff about 7 years ago, got it to the "in the white" stage, then stopped. :idunno: Recently got tired of seeing it sitting there unfinished and decided to remedy that problem. Your comments/criticism are welcome.

Chambers Early Lancaster parts
Getz 44" C-weight barrel in .54
Chambers Golden Age lock
Steel parts browned with LMF Barrel Brown
Toe plate and inlays were bought separately from TOW.
Stained with Chambers version of LMF Nut Brown, then finished with about 9-10 coats of rubbed in Chambers Stock Finishing Oil, then a coat of paste wax to finish it off.

The young lady is my 15-year-old daughter who was kind enough to help me with the picture taking. :hatsoff:

Wow!! Nicely done. Did you do all of your carving? Some great looking lines there.

Yes, I did all of the carving. It's a bit rough compared to others who have more experience... I probably should have spent more time smoothing out background transitions. A lot of the roughness I didn't notice until after I had stained and began oiling the stock though. :idunno: Live and learn.

Only 10 years? Just think what kind of a job you could have done if you would have taken your time! :)

LOL! Well... in all fairness, many of those years were spent propped up in a corner of the room collecting dust.

very nice!
(ok I don't like that ram rod, but that would be an easy fix)

Does your daughter shoot with you?

Yeah... I have another ramrod that I will not stripe, so that I have one of each. I know striping them is controversial... but I like them whether they're PC or not.

Yes, she loves shooting, and is recently interested in black powder after I let her shoot my flintlock pistol a couple of times.

Nice work...like the color and finish. Your carving suits this LR. This indeed must have sat around for awhile....Getz bbls aren't that common anymore and are difficult to get.....Fred

Thank you Fred! I've admired your work for years... you've been an inspiration. :hatsoff:

Thank you War Hawk, I could not agree more. She's a wonderful child, I couldn't be more proud.

I managed to capture a few cool pics from a video I took of her first firing.
