Recoil reduced I have a CVA Bob Cat that had a very heavy recoil, I put 10 .58 RB in stock with a rag to keep them from moving around. works great now

I picked up a CVA Bobcat a while back that appeared to be in unfired condition with the black synthetic stock.
I found a CVA Mountain Stalker wood stock and swapped it out.
Still haven't gotten around to shooting it but I'm thinking the recoil would be quite manageable.

Where did you put the sock, if I may ask?
It should be in the butt. I have a rifle that was muzzle heavy. I removed the butt plate and drilled a hole and inserted 6 oz. of lead. It really helped on the balance. I filled in the free space with a small amount of pillow ticking so the lead wouldn't rattle around.

I often add lead to the buttstock to help balance rifles for youth and women. It helps to balance the barrel weight as well as reduce recoil.

Used to add weight in the stocks of trap guns back in the 1960's.
still do.

They make a high teck version that is even heaver weight per mass...... they call it a dead mule.
It is a cylinder of steel sealed with mercury inside of it. Does the same thing. Open the but plate and put it in.
It works on the principal of Kinetics since the liquid moves as well as being heavy.

With muzzleloaders, there is a less expensive option. Usually you have to drill the wood out. Instead of using round ball, some are known to fill the drilled hole with a calculated amount of melted lead. It is simple geometry to calculate a cylinder with lead weighing 0.409 pounds per inch. Benefit, it doesn't roll around changing center of gravity and thus the hold. Though it still works, it doesn't work on the same principal as the dead mules thus takes more weight to accomplish the same result.

Another option is to fill the drilled hole with shot instead of R.B. It doesn't move so much.
