This is an original Model 1795 Springfield musket dated 1810. As can be seen, all metal surfaces have been heavily cleaned and have a uniform pitting. Less on lock. The barrel has been shortened to 42.25". Appears contemporary to guns use and probably from bursting or other damage. The bore needs serious scrubbing, but can be put in condition for blank, shot or light musket ball charges. Mechanically the gun functions as it should. It is missing tang screw and frizzen screw turns freely. Middle barrel band retaining spring is broken. Both sling swivels are replacements. Stock is on overall good condition with no serious cracks or gouges. LOP is 12.5". Weighs about 8.7 lbs. A good candidate for civilian or Native reenactors of early 19th century. Just needs some work. $750 + Shipping.
