Where did you get the pipe tongs from?

A BlackSmith friend made them for me years ago. I've been trying to get him to make some more but you just can't push these artistic people. They only work when they're inspired ....or need the money. :rotf:

Well, I got one. Smoking the first bowl now. Gotta agree with tmdreb that reed sure is wide, but it draws good. We'll see how the stem holds up. If it gives out, I can always cut a stem off the wife's decorative bamboo plant or get come up with a turkey wing bone.
As for all you boys with your formula's for that "special blend", I'll just stick to the commercial stuff for now, thanks.

I smoke a small all clay pipe that the stem has broken twice on (thank god for super glue) and just buy cheap bugler tobak

A friend of mine who smoked things other than tobacco from objects somewhat similar to pipes told me once that there may be some health risks associated with using super glue on smoking implements.

How does the bugler work for you? Is that cigarette tobacco, or am I off on that one? A fellow I reenact with smoked cig tobacco from his pipe at events as a period method to satisfy his craving for cigarettes. He gave me some American Spirit once, and that was enough for me! I'll stick to pipe tobacco.

bugler is a cig tobacco so if your not a cig smoker it can be awful harsh as for the glue on the stem the breaks are far enough from the heat I don't think it is a problem but thanks for the heads up. I've been looking for a new one but can't find one I like.

Bugler, like any other cigarette tobacco, is usable in a pipe but is 'string cut' to make rolling easier. Some of the others are 'chop cut' and will also work. If you want something more authentic, check out Crazy Crow's site. They have full smoked leaves and twist available.

"I have carried a reed stem clay pipe in my haversack for many years. This included while deer and small game hunting...."

I've been meaning to ask, have you or anyone had any experience with liqorice flavored tabacco while hunting? I have heard that liqorice smells similar to anise.
