Mark it with some Dykem, re install it and see if it gets rubbed off. Never seen a bolt stretched before as the fingers are usually to hard and thin.

A bolt big enough to have rub marks from the cam way down there wouldn't be able to be installed to even check !! 😄

Well, that tells the story of the cam contact. I had it wrong! Thanks for taking the time to reassemble and clear that up. I think Mike must have it right as an attempt to stretch the finger although I've never seen it done before on spring steel. I don't think it a particularly good idea for bolt longevity though.

No problem, Only took a couple of minutes to check it. Besides I have received more help form the MLF crew than I could return. All the best, CLB

Here is another update on the 1862 Colt 2nd Gen story.
I won another2nd Gen. Only this time it was an 1862 Pocket Navy.
And boy was this thing RUFF! Felt like someone dipped in a bucket of sand. With a nice beauty ring about 270* around the cylinder. After several hours of de-burring and polishing, It still had a rough spot just as the hammer was set down on nipple. I had to do more polishing on the the trigger /hammer mating surface. With that completed I noticed the hammer had a "tick" just as it hit the left side of the nipple notch. I chamfered the trailing edge of the bolt head. Fixed.
Then while admiring my work the bolt spring snapped. So I tried making one similar to M.De Land's process. Worked ok but stock material (.025")not thick enough /to weak. But luckily I had replacement parts from DGW on had.
Here are acouple pictures.
