I always called that area Mid-Atlantic........... There's even contention on which States make up the Mid-Atlantic region. Some, myself included consider Virginia and NC to be Mid-Atlantic States, others lump them in with the Southeastern region. Such is life........

You obviously failed geography class! NC and VA have always been Southern states and no rewritten history lesson can change that. The Carolinas and Virginia both contributed heavily to the Southern way of life. Cotton, tobacco and peanuts and don't forget Sundrop and Cheerwine! Hell yeah, it's a Southern thang!

Given that you're completely misinterpreting what I said I see how you could come to that conclusion. I lived in Virginia for 35 years, it's a southern State, never said it wasn't. This has nothing to do with North vs South, Mason Dixon Line, yada, yada.......... Which two states are the CENTER two states that touch the Atlantic Ocean? What was that about failing Geography class? Might want to read with comprehension in mind before inserting foot and chewing vigorously........

He never said those parts of Maryland weren't pro southern, he said Lincoln placed troops in strategic points to keep Maryland in the Union.

Working many years in Baltimore and being a perceived Yankee I received some of the best history lessons from the locals. Like how those guns on Federal Hill were pointed at the business district and not the open harbor.

I am taken aback that folks have put so much effort in to thinking what region ones state is in.
Missouri has been south, mid west, trans Mississippian. Are we more like Iowa or Arkansa Illinois or Kansas
Is West Virginia the south? Culturally a lot, but the state was a break off of a Southern state to join the north.
