This is called "The Hivernant" by David Wright... 1985.
"A French word loosely translated meaning one who has wintered in the mountains. The hivernat, the veteran trapper of the fur trade, endured cold weather, thirst, freezing streams and hostile Indians... lived rough but free and explored new country. A breed of man the likes of whom the world will probably never see again. One of the heros of the American fur trade--- The Hivernant"
I first saw this print when it came out back in 85 but I didn't have enough "plews" to get it. Today I found it in a Gallery, it called to me again and now it hangs on my wall.
