remington 1858 target problem

i lower back sight to frame and it still undershot
on cca 25yards bullet drop cca 10''
what to do ?
i load 30grain of fff powder with .140grain ball

Lowering the rear sight makes it shoot lower.

Raise the rear sight to make it shoot higher.

i did that ,i lower back sight to frame ,cant go any more ,and front i wasnt touched

do i need to make front one larger or to grind a bit back one ??

ok from start .....
first i fire with unmodified gun ,it shoot too low
i lower rear sight with screw till end ,,or frame of gun ,lowest possible

then i shoot again ,and same result a bit better but too low
i need to aim cca 10'' under center
to hit center of target on cca 25yard (23m by laser)
so what to do now ??
only options i can think of is to make front sight bigger ,or to grind/polish rear sight (that in middle of U) to lowest i can get
so i can lift barrel up and compensate for low hits
or to load more fff powder ,and hope that extra kick will push ball up
i hope u will understand me better

Rear sight goes up[/b], bullet goes up.

Rear sight goes down, bullet goes down.

A lower rear sight or a taller front sight will make the gun shoot even lower.

Much is lost in the translation. Usually cap and ball revolvers shoot high right out of the box. Your post is confusing. From your post: "I need to aim cca 10'' under center to hit center of target on cca 25yard."

A gun that shoots higher than its point of aim needs to have a taller front sight if the rear sight cannot be lowered. Conversely, if the gun shoots low, the rear sight needs to be raised or the front sight needs to be made shorter.

Some of the "Target Models" based on the 1858 Remington Army revolver I have looked at appear to have very tall front sights compared to the standard models. It may be that the manufacturer expects the buyer to file down the front sight to get the Target gun to shoot point of aim with their prefered load.

You move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to go.
You move the front sight in the opposite direction you want the bullet to go.

If you gun was shooting low, you should have filed down the front sight.

I have one of the pretty early target models I bought about 30 years ago and it adjusted to point of aim without filing the front sight.
I did get rid of the set screw adjustments in the rear sight base and changed them to slot headed Fillister screws so I could adjust it better.
Also replaced the rear sight plate for a better sight picture but it did adjust to point of aim at 25 yards out of the box.
Same deal on the ROA but not so on the 1860. That took a very high blade replacement up front.

shooting from hands i got to cca 5-6'' circle on 25y/23m
and from table to cca 3-4''
