Naval Jelly,
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/products/detail.asp?catid=13&subid=47&plid=169

It's Phosphoric acid,,commonly available at hardware stores,,always works great for me. After all bluing is just rust anyways.

Rubber gloves, daub it on, wait just a few minutes, then I rub it with steel wool to be sure of an even application and rinse with plenty of water.
I'm carefull to have good ventilation cuase it's a bit stinky and always keep the stuff away from steel sinks. This is an outside garden hose or laundry sink job.

Blood will quite readily remove blueing...though you might not want to go that route.

I used Birchwood casey bluing remover. Probably is some variant of naval jelly but it works really well.

vinegar will do the job, just a wet cloth with vinegar warped around the barrel
