I just purchased a new unfired CVA gobbler turkey federation caplock made in 1999. It is 12 gauge, however it has a super full choke. I want to bore out the choke so it is able to use round balls. I'm thinking a brake hone? Anybody have any ideas? I only paid $150.00 for it.
Thanks, Stubert

A brake hone would work but would take quite a while. If the bore is not chrome plated you could use an expandable reamer to rough out most of the choke and finish with a hone. Chrome will ruin a reamer real quick and a hone will take forever as well. I'd sell it to someone who wants a turkey gun, lots of folks seem to be looking for exactly that. I think that gun is too light for accurate shooting with a round ball due to the recoil which will become pretty nasty after a few shots.

I've had chokes on modern shotguns opened by gunsmiths. Cost runs $75-125, depending on who does the work. Be careful that the work doesn't leave a whole bunch of rough reamer marks on the bore. Don't know about current prices, but Briely has always done the best work for me.

i'M LOOKING FOR A DOUBLE BARREL 12GA. BLACKPOWDER SHOTGUN. iF ANY ONE HAS ONE FOR SALE LET ME KNOW.

How long is the barrel? Might be easiser to lop off the end of the barrel with the choke.
