I got a 50 cal. Renegade and I was wanting to know what is an accurate load for this rifle. It has a 1:48 twist barrel. I have pyrodex RS and 2F Goex ready to go. I will only be shooting round balls currently if you have a favorite and accurate load please share.

80 GR. FF AND 15TH PATCH RB.
90 GR.FF AND 370 GR MAXI-BALL
75 GR. FFF 240 GR. CHEAP SHOT SABOT.
REAL BLACK POWDER
ALL WORK WELL.

Billygoat is right there: START with those and move around 5 grains at a time useing BOTH real and Pyro...use a three or five shot group. Record your results. See which groups best in YOUR gun. Shoot for grouping FIRST, then "sight in"

Wattsy makes a great point. Don't waste time chasing sights till you know which load combination you are going to use then andjust the sights. This is especially important if you have fixed sights.

I think I'd start at 50-60 grains of either powder and work up 5 grains at a time till I found the best group. If you can't get a tight group with any load, then it's time to start tinkering with patch material and lube. You'll know when you hit the gun's sweet spot.

Isn't that a bit "Hefty" for a .50?

I'm getting great accuracy with a .490 ball, .015 pre-lubed patches and 70- 75grs of FFFg Goex in my .50 Renegade.

.490 Roundball

Pillow Tickin spit patch

65 grns. FF Goex

A Killer Load for Whitetail @ 75yds. or less if I do my part. I have shot this load with good results on Southern Whitetails ,I'm not sure about such a "light load" on those Northern big boys :hmm: I don't think you can burn too much more powder in a Renegade with a TC stock barrel due to the length of the barrel. I do know if you make a good shot on any deer it will go down, some my just take a little longer than others.
