In the hunt for my first muzzeleloading rifle, I found that my uncle has a very nice looking TC Hawken in .50 cal. Only problem is it needs a new drum and nipple. I think I can get it fairly cheap, but I need to find the parts for it. Where can I get these parts? Also what is a rifle in this condition worth?

How about sending it back and getting it fixed for free. I suppose there might be shipping.

The TC does not actually have a "drum & nipple" design...the entire breechplug is a single block of steel which includes a section containing the threaded nipple seat.

Do you think it needs new parts because they are rusted/corroded, or is that entire part (breechplug) missing from the rear end of the barrel?

If it's rusted/corroded, have you checked the bore with a borelight...it may well be in the same condition.

If a new breechplug is needed, TC will install a new one, including the required reblue job, for $85.

T/C guns do not have a drum. They have a snail breach. What is wrong with the one that is on the gun that it would need to be replaced?

T/C may be able to help you, but they do not view that area as being user serviceable.
