KV, yes there is an RPL stamped on the lock. Does not state 6 but it is the 06. The lock is close, definitely not any of the other RPL's.
Leather, it is 3/16"-1/4" out. Close enough to where I can't just redrill a new hole, would just have to elongate and wallow out the existing because the holes would overlap or be so close the bit would slip into the other, then there'd be a lot of slop. Even if I did so and inletted the lock, it would still fit loosely as the exiting L&R lock plate is a little smaller in places, bigger in others, and different shaped which would still leave enough gaps around the wood and look very bad. Same goes for redrilling the lock plate, they'd probably overlap. Not willing to wallow out the screw hole, inlett the stock and have it still fit poorly. I was just going to do this when I pulled it out of the closet a few days ago, but just won't work.
Got a replacement Ped lock coming in a few days hopefully. Man they aren't cheap! New $212.00 from VTI plus shipping and $190.00 from Beauchamps plus $12.00 shipping, ouchy! I'd rather just have it fit. I'd love an upgraded lock but would need to be close, and if it won't work it won't work. I thought about that square plate, but out of my capabilities and just not worth it right now.
I called L&R the other day and spoke to a gentleman and told him my problems. He said to send the lock back and he'd give me my money back! Which is great. He asked me to trace my inletting and send it with the lock. When I get the Ped. lock I'll trace the lock plate and send it back as well.

Thanks for your wealth of knowledge as usual! A lot of great info. I'll follow up with them again and see which course of action I should take. The USPS took adavntage of me and thought I was S.O.L., but this gives me hope! Hopefully I'll be back up and shooting again in a week or so.
