Do they make replacement locks for the older Pedersoli Kentucky rifles?

I traded for a pair of older styles of the Pedersoli Kentucky rifle. They
have the pierced type of patch box. One is flint, one is percussion,
.32 & .45
Guns dated AC 1977 .45 percussion & Flint .32 dated AL 1983

I would like to change the percussion to flint ( drop in or close ) but the
original flint lock on this one is to small and dainty for my tastes.
Any help on this?

Next question, do they have powder chambers in them? Ramrod stops at
the front of the drum and touch hole liner. ??

Next question, anything else I should know?

:)
Thanks

There doesn't look like there is much room in the lock area for anything larger. You could check the TOW catalog and see if anything is close to the right size. Their photos are life sized.

You should be able to convert the percusion to flint with a touch hole liner and a new lock. You will have to check with Pedersoli to see what they have available.

Yes they have an ignition chamber that is very small. From looking at the breechplug it looks like they were trying for a little more metal in the breech to safely install a drum ignition on a thinner barrel.

Thanks Mike.

I had heard that Pedersoli had beefed up their locks from years back.
Anyone have the new and old Pedersoli’s Kentucky to compare locks?

Maybe just a beefier hammer, looks like there is room. The frizzen and
pan are both wide enough for a bigger hammer and flint.

The lock only holds the smallest size flint like Becky’s lock. If I can’t
find a way to use a 5/8 flint I may not change the percussion over.

Both guns.

Here's a picture of the lock on my Pedersoli Frontier. Don't know how it is size wise, other than the tail of the lock plate being longer and pointed. It's a pretty beefy and reliable lock once it's cleaned up a little. I use a 3/4 flint in it even though Pedersoli calls for a 5/8.

I have the old model too. It has always been in percusion, untill beginning of the year, I ordered a new lock, but this time a flintlock for same gun. I removed the drum and inserted a removable touch hole. The new lock fitted perfectly, but I had to work a little on the frizzen which was a little bit to wide near the barrel. This was fixed very quickly with a dremel tool. Now I have only my Winchester Yellow Boy that needs converting to flintlock ... :hmm:
