Saw one in a shop today for $300. Looked new. Couldn't find a maker's name on it, but the very front on the cylinder where it is engraved reads Replica Arms. Co. in a thin script. I know they were an import company from around thirty or so years ago and the name seems to have resurfaced again. Any idea who may have made this for them? The owner said he bought out an old gun shop and this was old stock. The barrel is rather dull or faded and the cylinder very black and almost glossy. Eveything is stamped with a two digit s/n. Would that be a fair price if new? I see Cabelas has the Unberti's for $350 + s&h.

Thanks in advance,

For that little difference in price, I think I'd go for one of the new Ubertis and get a gun of known quality. If the other is an old Pietta, it could be iffy on quality.

The risk of it being made by Palmetto-however slight, would be reason enough to avoid it. I may have my wire's crossed here but I seem to associate replica arms with Allen firearms- if so, it's kind of a predecessor of cimarron and would probably come from Uberti. As you say though, best bet is to get a uberti as you know the parts from cimarron or VTI gunparts are going to work.

Thanks, all, for the input. Don't really need it so I'll let her pass. I have some circa 1972 BP books that list Replica Arms, so thought it may be one of the early ones.

If it's got the address of Marietta, Ohio, anywhere on it or it's literature then it's an old one.

Replica arms was an early importer of Uberti revolvers. I have an 1860 Army .44 replica arms Uberti. I have seen others also. The Replica arms Ubertis are among the best made colt replicas. All parts on mine will interchange with the colt 1860.
