I have a 1851 Navy .36cal reproduction. On the right side of the barrel it is stamped, (SM BLACKPOWDER ONLY CAL.36MADE IN ITALY) Does the SM stand for San Marco? If so where can I purchase a bolt(cylinder catch for it. Thankyou.

SM ain't san Marco, don't know what it is.
The reproduction colt parts are pretty generic,

Ya know, at that price it's probably less than the shipping will cost, use the same link and find a hand & spring and maybe a main spring for it too, both are good to have on hand if they fail later on.

I have a 58 Remington replica that says "SM Black Powder Only 44 cal Made In Italy" on one of the slanted barrel flats near the bottom on the right side. It is identical to the same 58 that has an "ASM Black Powder Only 44 cal Made In Italy". I don't know why some Armi San Marcos are stamped SM when most are marked ASM. If your 51 is like my 58 other manufacturers parts either will not fit or will need some modification to work. In my 58 the bolt was and 1/8 inch shorter than a Pietta and was narrower.

Funny, I also have a broken spring on the 1860 Army .44. I'm thinking would be wise to get a couple of those for spares. I'm guessing those there springs weren't made out of the best spring steel the Italians could find :wink:

So I would say your Navy is an Armi San Marco.
