After a year and a half of shooting my TC Renegade I have worked most of the bugs out. One of my problems was my flint was hitting the frizzen too squarly. I fixed this by putting the bevel up and setting it further back in the jaws of the hammer. The flint now hits the frizzen at a sharper angle and throws good sparks, but I am left with a horizontal groove toward the top of the frizzen about .005 inch deep. Can I grind .005 inch off the face of the frizzen and still have hardened steel left, or will I have to heat treat the new surface, or should I just buy a new frizzen altogether? If heat treating is an option, how do I do it?
