What exactly are you looking for?
Originally, the project was going to be a for a full bronze 18th Century 6 pounder cannon, I cover what happened with Gilmor in one of my earlier postings. I am picking up a 3 pounder in the next two weeks, and hopefully a 5.5" howitzer in January/February.
I would still like a light 6 pounder, but I believe I have that covered already.
This past week made the long road trip to grab the gun!
Left Tuesday around 8am, (made a stop at the West Point Museum and Trophy Point, pics from that in another thread to be posted soon) left West Point around noon, stopped in Staunton, VA at 10pm for some sleep.
Woke up Wednesday morning at 5am, put in three more hours to Knoxville, TN, picked up my trailer that I had purchased. 20 minutes up to Trail Rock Ordnance in Blaine, TN and got the gun loaded up!
Left Blaine, TN around noonish on Wednesday and despite stopping for food and natures call we drove non stop and arrived back home at 445am Thursday.....phew, 1940 miles in 33 hours of driving....I was glad to get out of my truck and hit my pillow.
Anyways a quick shot as we left from TRO. More photos to follow!!

More than one person would go to pass us, do a double take, slow down, pace our speed and out came the phone for a photo!
I'll be putting our website and instagram handles on the upper frame rails of the trailer soon. Cheap advertising to and from events!

Better shot of it tied down to the trailer. Once I can get the winch mounted and get the gun on and off the trailer easier I'll get some more detailed photos and do a "walk around" of it!

How did spokes differ?
A wheelwright will have to chime in on specifics, but as I understand it, artillery wheels came with a greater cast or angle for the spokes from the hub. This was intended to prevent the wheel collapsing under lateral stress from the greater weight of the gun.

I’ve always wanted me an ordnance rifle but never had the cash. Pretty expensive shooting but artillery fire is intimidating!
What is the approximate bore diameter of the 3 pounder? And a 6 pounder?
In the early 1960's, a member of our group in DC made a cannon from a section of a 3" naval gun at Anacostia armory. Our family moved to Florida before I could see it finished. I do recall the many-grooved rifling.

Historically a three pounder would have a bore of roughly 2.9"/3" a six pounder is about 3.7" in diameter.
The barrel on my gun while dimensionally accurate on the outside, the bore is only 2.25" This particular cannon maker does great work, but only uses a few sizes on his steel liners. Thankfully on this gun it doesn't look bad at all, but unfortunately, in my personal opinion on some of the other, bigger guns it looks pretty disproportionate.

Went back for one afternoon when I was almost 6, just before we sailed off to London for two years -grew up as a Navy Junior, travelling the globe, and continued while was in. Never been a Paramedic, despite plenty of training, but have been a firefighter - and a fire starter! Planned eco-burning on state lands in FL.
One day I may go visit MA, but have some nasty surgery on my neck bones coming up. Agent Orange has affected me rather badly.

Know that area well, my first job 18 years ago as an EMT was for the ambulance company that provided 911 for Chelsea. Admirals Hill as the area is known now (maybe as before) is very nice, very pretty, in a city that otherwise is not very nice, or very pretty. How the times have changed. I'm a 5th generation firefighter, so It very well may have been unavoidable for me, however like the times, the job has changed quite a bit even since I have started, let alone my previous generations.
Good luck on your surgery, agent orange is awful stuff have seen plenty of vets that have life-long and life-altering problems from it. Thank you for your service.

South Bend makes a nice tube. Looks like TRO did a very nice job on the carriage. I wish he made some steel rev war guns too but hes mostly civil war.

Nice thing about 2.25 bore is you can shoot soda/beer cans. Im about to receive my 3 pounder 2.91 and its a little harder to find ammo.
