Rice barrel breaches

Anybody out there had breach erosion problems with their rice barrel? Was at a match at Canal Fulton and talked with 3 shooters that all had the same problem. Couple of them contacted rice and basically told to pound sand. I've got a new Kibler kit I just built and am concerned about the rice barrel. We're not a bunch of newbies and between the 4 of us have over 100 years shooting experience. Just wondering if anybody else has had any problems?
