I was leafing through my copy of "The Muzzle-Loading Cap Lock Rifle" by: Ned Roberts today, and I noticed there is a few pages devoted to riflings.
Kentucky wide-shallow, Springfield 1855-1893, Polygrooving (antique), Whitworth, Swiss, Oval, Brunswick Purdey, Star Grooving, Kentucky Average and Modern Polygroovine are just a few Mr. Roberts mentions.
This got me thinking
what riflings style do you look for in a muzzleloader?
If you were to have a barrel rifled, what would you choose?
I have a smoothbore and springfield riflings on my current smokepoles, I do like the looks of the Kentucky wide-shallow rifling.
Any thoughts on what you would consider to be the ultimate rifling style ever used on a muzzleloader.
