I have an adjustable sight model, S/S it ain't PC I know but that's what I pop caps with in addition to a '58 Rem.
try a 7.62X39 (AK or SK) caseful of 3F this is around 30grs, a good hot load that gives good groups.
a lower charge of powder may be better, but just target use.

My best results so far with a 7 1/2" blued adjustable sight model have been with .457 ball over a lubed felt wad over 30 gr by volume of real black powder (Goex). However, 25 gr was very nearly the same, and it could very well be me and not the load that made the difference.

25 gr. of 3f graffs and cream o wheat filler is a deadly accurate load. I grease the ball instead of a wad. My fixed sight, blue ROA likes that just a little better. Kind of a popgun load in that big old pistol though.
