Over the years I came across two very old molds that throw pure lead bullets that measure .456.

I use them in my ROA with regularity, although, the round nose one doesn't seem to have as much oomph as a round ball, just based on recoil.

The round nose mold is unmarked excapt that somebody scratch 45-70 on it. The round nose bullets weigh avg 226 grains

The cone nose bullet avgs comes in at 190 grains and the mold is marked Ideal 456. This bullet does not show up in my two old Ideal cats.

I found that I get better results if I load the bullet backwards with the flat end out, so I can load it and take up powder space. Puches beutifully clean holes regardless of which way I load it.

Do you resize the base of your cast bullets to seat easier and true?

I've had a fellow reply to a thread of mine concerning that, and he stated that he resizes them backwards. It seems to me that they would get stuck in the die.

Do you have a difficult time seating .456" bullets? I've heard that Lee's 220 grain conical mould drops them at that diameter, but that they are hard to seat and don't really have a small enough base for the ROA chambers, which makes them hard to align.
