I replaced the front sight of my ROA with a taller blade. The trouble is that this is the second blade I went through doing my best to get it perpendicular. It is canted to one side.

I am getting somewhat frustrated with this process. I tried different tricks by others to drill the blade and it isn't up to my satisfaction.

I'd like to know who would be a good smith to send it to? Also, I know that this ROA is a muzzleloader. Thus no FFL paperwork. Will a gunsmith write it down in the same books as a modern arm? Ok. That may sound a tad paranoid but I want to know anyways.

Thank you for any replies.

Have you tried to epoxy the front blade sight in temporarily? You might be able to straighten the blade with a bit of gentle tapping with a small brass hammer. I would remove it first from the sight base.
As for a gunsmith recording the work, I am sure that is a possibility for tax purposes. Then again, he might just fix the sight for cash.

Check your PT in a bit.

As far as to what each gunsmith does, you would have to ask the one you want to do the work.

Mine documents each gun in, it saves arguing with the ATF he said and it ensures you get your gun back.

You might just take ta barrel and sight to a machine shop. So no cost of shipping and so forth.
