Just when I was getting all hot & bothered about the possibility of purchasing a R&S revolver....
Last night (I swear, it was JUST last night!!!) I was on the S&S Firearms website pondering over the nice repro R&S revolvers (for less than 3 bills, yet!)and mulling it over. So, tonight I go there to look again; lo and behold, the 2011 catalog pops up...sans the R&S!
What happened? :idunno: http://www.ssfirearms.com/images/2011 Catalog/2011 Catalog Repro Firearms.pdf

I was going to say that it's gone because Euroarms is quitting business, but I see they're still going to carry the Euroarms Remington. It may be a matter of stock on hand; they have more of the Remington than the R&S and anticipate being able to get through the year with stock on hand.

They may still have some R&S's on hand. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

I may just do that.
Glad to know you regard your R&S highly.
That's mighty high praise from a guy with enty-tway ix-say uns-gay.
(Hope your wife doesn't know Pig Latin if she sees this...)

Capt. Kirk - you may want to look on Dixie's Home Page, there is a closeout flyer link that has the R&S revolvers on closeout, both London Armory finish and the blued Target model. I concur, those are fine looking revolvers. So far I've been able to resist the siren's call for a revolver and just shoot my Patriot .45 pistol or the CVA Kentucky pistol.

I love my R&S. I stole it at a gun show for $125. OHH MY God. The guy bought it from a hardware store a couple of years before and never fired it. I talked him down from $150. Was I bad or what?

FWIW, I have a R&S (Euroarms version) from the the late 1960's.

The fit/finish is superb, the cylinder lock-up tight, the trigger crisp and clean. The grips fit my rather small hands better than Rem 1858 or Colt Army. (I had a chance to handle an original Colt Navy and found the frame & grip smaller than the replicas).

The R&S has a better barrier between cylinders and may be more effective in preventing multiple-cylinder firings, plus there is much less likelehood the hammer can slip between cylinders.

I think it to be a nicer pistol than either the Colt or Remington.

I hope you can acquire a replica .... BTW, if you acquire an original, I'd not shoot it, just display it proudly!

Kirk, you have got to buy that pair of R&S's from Track. No worries about shooting them, since one is a re-blue job and the other has no finish. If your wife ditches you for spending the $$$, you can move in under my carport...as long as you bring the revolvers. Anything to help a brother out.

Are you bad??!!!!
You're going to HELL, my son...(unless you pay your penance by selling it to me for a C-note)

No, really! I wouldn't kid you! :bull:

No worries about shooting them is right. I won't be able to shoot them...'cuz I won't be able to afford bus fare to the range, let alone range fees. :shake:

Captain Kirk; just ordered a R&S London Grey finish from Dixie.

Will let you know how it shoots later.

Dale, I should be mad at you, but if I can't enjoy owning one now, at least you can!
But you must post pix, or I could turn on you like a mad dog. :youcrazy:

Guess you're going to have to be mad, I am barely computer literate :idunno:

I don't know how to post pictures :shake:

Sorry bout that

Well, if you don't have a digital camera...I s'pose that's OK. If you DO, shoot me a PT and I'll walk you through it.

Do I have to do everything for you? Tell you what guns to buy, offer you a place to stay, now you need bus fare and range money? Worse than kids, I tell you, but since you're bringing a pair of shootable, original R&S pistols, I'll drive to the range and I've got plenty of RB. :rotf:

Worse than kids?
Do you HAVE kids?
I'm wondering....There are few things worse than a teenager on the day he/she realizes his/her parents are not the Center of the Universe. :shocked2:

Well, Capt Kirk, I told you I would give you a report when I got my Rogers & Spencer, so here it is.

Very impressed with the revolver overall, locks up tighter than any other BP revolver I have.

Simple to break down, just turn screw on left side of gun 1/2 turn, and pull loading lever, you're done.

Shooting takes some getting used to, mine DOESNT shoot high like all the Colts I have.

Just hold right on with fine bead and you've got your target. No cap jams no missfires, just boom.

I was shooting a load of 30 grs Pyrodex, lubed wonder wad and Hornady .454 round ball. They seated so easily that next time I think I will try some of the .457's I have for my Walker.

The London Grey finish to me, looks pretty much the same as stainless, maybe a shade darker, but nice, it is very easy to clean up.

All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase, and recommend those who want a Rogers & Spencer to take advantage of Dixie's clearance sale.

For $350.00 you can get the target model also, and they come with nipple wrench and six nipples; which IMHO every manufacturer ought to include with their revolvers.

Dale
