Wow I just heard that Ron Ehlert passed away ... what a shame!

Wow, does anyone know what happened to him?

Ron was a super nice and very helpful guy.

One of the real first class gunmakers--he will be missed. Fortunately for us he left behind some beautiful works of art which may give him some immortality--a small comfort for his family and friends, I am sure.

:shocked2: :( I was just drooling over one of his early guns last weekend.

Man........ that is sure a great loss. Now I know why he has not returned my email. What a great craftsman he was !!

That's terrible to hear that. His videos have been invaluable with building my first rifle. My condolences to his family and friends...

For those unfamiliar with Mr. Ehlert, the man built perfection. Everything he did, he did flawlessly. Really super outstanding work. He could do just about anything as well, from the average American longrifle, to European high relief iron chiseling.

For those who would like to see his work, TOTW has one for sale:

It is beautiful and I wish I could afford to buy it.

Ron Elhert passed on in his sleep this past week-end of an apparent heart attack. He was 60 years young!

Ron Ehlert was also the secr/treas of the German Gun Collectors Assoc. I attended the Beinfeld Show in Las Vegas recently and spend time with Ron and the group in our booth. He was a very fine gentleman.

Ron was many things.

A NMLRA Director

A Fine Muzzleloading Gun Builder

A Great Powder Horn Maker

A Friend to the Entire Community of Muzzleloading

A Very Generous Support of the Sport/Hobby of Muzzleloading

A Supporter of the ideas that the “N” in NMLRA stood for National

He Untimely Death will deprive many of his Fine Work

Hopefully the NMLRA BOD will do something to HONOR his Memory, as he did so much for, and to promote the NMLRA/Muzzleloading over the years

RIP Ron
