Went to the santa fe trails rendezvous in Raton new mexico and picked up some clothing, capper and a really nice green river knife. Went for 2 days and while the weather was crappy, it was a lot of fun. I really wanted to enter the shooting matches but by the time i drove home and got all my stuff i'd be out $50 just for gas. Plus i was also out of powder and patches. Always the Hartsel Colorado Bayou salado rendezvous. Now i'll just have to order some moccasins and i'll be set for a while until i can gather enough deer hides to make some pants.

Great looking gear, especially like that knife, looks almost like it has skinned out a buffler, bar, or two.

well i have 2 buttons left to sew on. Good thing i dont do this for a living, its taking me 10-15 minutes per button :shake:

Think it would be Ok to make a couple deer antler buttons and sew 2 of them on to the shirt? I'd like the lower neck area closed up a bit more. So far the pants fit great and are very comfortable. Once this is done i can order a belt off the net for my knife.

You got some very nice clothing and knife. Knife looks a bit bend to me but it can be the pic or my Taptop. :rotf: :rotf:
Congratulations! I really like the shirt. Looks like Sunday Church quality.

Please show a close-up of that leather capper. Might just be the item I'm looking for.

Now that is what I call brilliant creativity. Never thought about that and it is so practical and simple. It just got the creative juices in me flowing. :applause: :applause:
Thanks for asking the question Oscar And thanks for the pics Kentuckywindage

YOur deer antler buttons will have a tendency to have the core break out of them especally if they get wet. Great looking outfit.

Christiaan,
Ek koop die eerste een wat jy maak hoor!

I buy the first one Christiaan makes.

Thanks for the convidence in me, Oscar. Yep, I made one but without the cuts. Its not working so well. So I'll put the cuts around the edges and see how it functions. If I get it right I give you one.

Tried to make one from old rifle sling, also not too good.

I think the round capper needs the cuts to release the cap. Might work better if leather is also notched between caps, kind of like a gear with blunt teeth.

OK Oscar, Here is your capper. Now it works very well. Thanks again Kentuckywindage for the inspiration.

Great job! Glad i could help you guys out. For $3, i couldnt pass up the leather capper lol. Sure beats paying $20 for a brass capper that always seems to bend out of shape.

I like that kind of capper also, made mine from a coaster, but it don't look as good as those, can I ask what you used to darken the leather ?
Cheers Teach.

Nice work, Christiaan!!
I made a couple of those many years ago and I set the holes a little closer to the edge of the leather. Try that and see how you like it.

Christiaan,
Will be coming past Classic Arms tomorrow (02/07) to meet you.
I'm looking for someone to make me a gun sleeve, similar to the one Willem has over his shoulder in the photo with Jim. Have a piece of pig suede that might work.
Regards
Oscar
