Good to know. I will be ordering mine there also. I think either the 10x10 or 12x12, have not decided yet.

Wife and I made mine about 6 yrs. ago. It's 11'x13' bought canvas from home depo.Water profing from cabales.Made front flaps to close at night or in a storm. The flaps give me an additional 3' out front.I use 5 poles to put it up.1 6footer out front,2 what ever length you would want holding the front up.2 xed acrossed the middle holding the middle up.1 rope that goes from the 6'footer to the center poles, then from their to the ground stake in the back.Sounds confusing but very simple to put up.Next time i have it up i'll put up some pics.Total cost about $75.00.Just bought more canvas from home depo.Had to bleach it for 24 hrs.to get it pure white.Ah' the labor of pleasure.Take care guy's.Griz

The rondy shelter I had for a pack in was a shabang. it was 1 half of a CW dog tent and a gumblanket set up like a leanto using 4 forked sticks as uprights, 4 ropes and 6 stakes. Anothr pack in shelter was 2 gum blankets around a wool blanket and that was it.

I only use a single pole in the front. By running a sisal rope from the pointed back stake and made a loop that fits over a iron point in the front and then down to a stake. I would guess that the single wood pole(cut from a tree) is maybe 5 foot tall. If it was decent weather out I would snap a picture place it up. There is plenty of room for me to sleep front to back and room for all my accouterments on either side of me. This includes 2 small hump back trunks one that contains all my weekend stuff the other is my (farby) cooler.

:idunno: When i get a chance to put it up i'll post pics.Right now pretty tough with the weather we've been having.Griz

1. Is there enough room under a 10 x 10 for yourself and all your gear and be comfortable and not cramped?

2. Is there enough protection that if it rains for hours non-stop that your stuff stays dry?

1. There is for me and my gear. I guess it would depend on how much gear you brought and what your definition of comfortable is. You ain't gonna put a Lazy-Boy in there.
I don't spend a whole lot of time in there. Pretty much just for sleeping. The rest of the time I usually stay busy and out doing other stuff, raining or not.

2. That would depend on where and how you set it up. You want the back to the wind so wind and blowing rain will scoot right over. You want to set up on a high spot so you won't end up in a puddle. If there's slope above you you'll get runoff coming under. Use a waterproof ground cloth and roll the uphill edges to form a kind of a dam to keep ground water off your stuff.

Thanks Grizz. It was kinda a mess when I took that picture.
That was my camp at the Possum party. The drop cloth came in handy to hide my garbage behind and to help keep a little of the October out at night.

Is the photo of a 10 x 10? Looks plenty roomy. Pretty cool!

It's actually a 9'6" X 9'6" oilskin from Panther Primitives. It's exactly what I wanted.

You can just see the top of my bedroll on the right and there is a little room left over at the foot end where I coulda had it in deeper.
Normally all that junk piled around the front pole would have been inside but I had just been using everything. Cleanin' guns and cookin' dinner.
I believe 2 people and gear could be comfortable in there if you shared some gear and arranged it right. By myself I just toss everything in a pile on the other side of the center pole.

Jethro, The next time I set up my 12 by 12, I am going to try hooking up my 9 by 9 in the front in a similar way, also to keep out the weather and hide more junk!

Thats not a bad idea either. All info was great here by everyone. Lookin forward to the one from panther.
