Does anyone know of any rondys that are held in or close to Maryland? Having never been to one, just want to know.

Griz,

I have a percussion rifle, not a flintlock. Is it still worth me going there for my type of rifle. Obviously, the experience of a rondy, never having been to one, will do me a world of good.

If you are going to shoot and participate, this may not be a good one. They have very little campers and do not have much in the way of activities. It is however a good one for vendors.

The Lancaster shoot in MuddyRun park is a beautiful event. Most years there are between 700 and 900 people involved. I don't think you can use percussion guns at the event but it wouldn't hurt to check. The grounds of the park are great with open areas to camp in as well as wooded areas where you can get some shade. Also during work parties we always see deer. There are quite a few suttlers with everything from cloths to guns to whatever as well as all the blankets of stuff at most camps to check out. They have shooting, archery, hawk n knife. Scottish games, seminars sometimes, cooking contest, woods walks a bit of something for everybody. If yer interested in Vous it is a good one to check out as well as a great way to spend the day. YMHS Birdman ps while yer there :m2c: the only dumb question is one ya don't ask, remember MOST folks don't bite hee hee

Ft. Fred and such events are "Market Fairs". Like said they might have some shooting but usually not a whole lot. They are the places to go and buy, trade and sell.....like a mini eastern. The Shenandoah Longrifles hold a couple voos each year about an hour and a half east of Ft. Fred. Small group, but getting bigger each year. Woodswalk, hawk and knife, novelty targets, pot luck supper and such. Its not that far from Ft. Fred so if you thought about going there you might think about going a little farther. Memorial day voo is coming up...........If you want info let me know and I'll tell you where to call or send.

I don't know about Ft. Fred, but there're plenty of percussin (no, not a typo) shooters at Lancaster. I think flinters are in the majority, but not by much. As Bird says, come on up, it's always a good time.

Howdy,
If you want an alternative to fort freddy, Pieman Flick is running an event along Rt. 81 at Gobblers Knob. It was put on at Fort Loudoun last year. You might check on http://www.gnarendezvous.org/mfstart.html
for the web site. Sounds to be about the same amount of Sutlers. Rick Blizzard is running an event @ Jackson's Mill state 4 H grounds near Weston, West Virginia also the same weekend.

Thats right. I know "Pieman" Flick. Darned good fella'. Pies ain't too bad either. And this event has an 1840 time period cut-off. So some of the folk that can't set up at Ft. Fred cause of the 1790 cut-off (I think thats what it is), can set out here like at any other voo. I was at Ft. Louden last time and found I enjoyed it just as much as Ft. Fred events I attended in the past.

AS Piper said, there are plenty of percussion shooters at the Lancaster Co. Longrifles 'voo. The time period cutoff date is 1840 so as long as you're not shooting a Civil War type rifled musket, you're good to go. Of all the local rendezvous and market fairs, I think the LCLR event is the most shooting intensive: paper punching, woodswalk, tactical, clay birds, a team post shoot and probably some others I forgot.
