A buddy of mine recently acquired a flintlock from his uncle. Both the lock and barrel are stamped. "Rose Dayton" on the lock and "Rose Gunworks Dayton O" on the barrel.
Has anybody here ever heard of Rose Gunworks? Any information? Are parts available? He needs a tumbler, sear, and main spring. Possibly a frizzen too.
Spark is almost non-existent. The frizzen has been re-soled at one time or another. The main spring feels weak. The sear nose is boogered. And the half-cock notch is broken on the tumbler.
My buddy said he would keep it as a wall-hanger because it came from his uncle, but he would really like to shoot it if possible.
Thanks for any help.

The gun seems to be in good shape overall. Good luck with it. That mainspring could be re-tensioned; there are several good teaching sites out there.

Thanks. Looks like just the guy he needs. I'll pass the info on to him. :hatsoff:
